RESIDENCE PERMIT FOR A LONG-TERM RESIDENT OF THE EUROPEAN UNION

To whom the application concerns

You can apply for an EU long-term residence permit for an indefinite period if you have been in the territory of the Republic of Poland legally and continuously for at least 5 years immediately before submitting your application and fulfil the following conditions in total:

  • you have a source of stable and regular income sufficient to cover the cost of living for yourself and dependant family members;

  • you have health insurance within the meaning of the act of 27 August 2004 on health care services financed from public funds or confirmation of the insurer's coverage of treatment costs in the territory of the Republic of Poland;

  • you have a confirmed knowledge of polish.

Note: If you are in Poland in connection with obtaining a residence permit for humanitarian reasons, a tolerated residence permit, asylum or temporary protection, you cannot obtain a long-term EU resident residence permit

 

Method of application

You submit your application for a long-term EU resident residence permit in person, no later than the last legal stay in the territory of the Republic of Poland to the Voivode competent for the current place of residence. 

When you apply, you are required to submit fingerprints.

If you do not submit your application in person or send it by mail-upon delivery of the application to the governor, you will be summoned to appear in person within no less than 7 days from the delivery of the summons under the rigor of leaving the application without examination.

Necessary documents

  1. Application form completed as instructed;

  2. Four current photos that meet the following requirements:

  • undamaged, colorful, with good sharpness;

  • dimensions 35 mm x 45 mm;

  • made not earlier than within 6 m-cy before the date of submission of the application;

  • depicting the image of a foreigner's face from the top of the head to the upper part of the shoulders, so that the face occupies 70-80% of the photo, on a uniform bright background, in a frontal position, looking straight ahead with open eyes, unshaven hair, with a natural facial expression and closed mouth, and also reproduce the natural color of your skin;

  • showing clearly the eyes of the alien, especially the pupils, the line of eyes of the alien is parallel to the upper edge of the photograph;

Note: if you wear a headgear in accordance with the principles of your religion, you can attach a photo of you in a headgear to the application, provided that the image of your face is fully visible. In this case, the application is accompanied by a statement of membership in the religious community.

  1. Photocopy of a valid travel document (original for inspection), in the particularly justified case where you do not have a valid travel document and are unable to obtain it, you may provide another document proving your identity.

  2. Legal title to the occupied dwelling in which you will stay.

Note: the absence of any of the above documents will cause you to be called upon to complete it within 14 days of receipt of the summons under the rigor of leaving the application without examination.

Typical documents confirming the circumstances indicated in the application:

  • Note: if you attach the documents listed below to the application when submitting it, you can reduce the amount of official correspondence and reduce the time to settle the case.

  • documents confirming the possession of legally required permits or residence permits or confirming the possession of refugee status, or subsidiary protection;

  • documents confirming that your stay in Poland was uninterrupted or documents stating the reasons for the interruption;

  • PIT statements about the amount of income earned for the last

  • 3 years before the application (if you have a temporary residence permit

  • in order to work in a profession requiring high qualifications-for the last 2 years) or other documents to certify a source of stable and regular income sufficient to cover the cost of living for yourself and family members who are dependent for the above periods (for a single person-701 PLN net per month, for a person in the family-in the amount of 528 PLN net per month);

  • document confirming the possession of health insurance

  • within the meaning of the act of 27 August 2004 on health care services financed from public funds or confirmation of the insurer's coverage of treatment costs in the territory of the Republic of Poland;

  • document confirming knowledge of the Polish language.

Note: if it is necessary to clarify or clarify the evidence held by the authority in the case during the proceedings, you may be requested to provide other documents or to testify in support of the circumstances referred to in the request.

Submission of applications and delivery of documents in matters of legalization of residence of foreigners and work permits will be carried out by mail or courier. In addition, for work permits, applications can be submitted through the portal www.praca.gov.pl
